Recommended Site Foundations

For the best results, we recommend installing your prefab building or shed on a well-prepared, level gravel foundation to ensure stability and proper drainage. If a gravel base isn’t possible, concrete blocks offer a solid alternative. Choose from the three site prep methods below to create a reliable foundation and ensure smooth shed delivery and long-term performance.

Shed setup using concrete blocks for a quick and cost-effective site preparation solution

Concrete Block Foundation:
A Simple Shed Setup

  • If you’re in Kentucky or Tennessee, chances are you’ve seen plenty of sheds set on concrete blocks—it’s a go-to option for smaller sheds and cabins.
  • It’s simple, effective, and budget-friendly.
  • Start with well-compacted soil (no loose or freshly filled dirt unless it’s packed tight).
  • For leveling, we may use a mix of blocks and shims. Just make sure your site isn’t too sloped—keeping the shed under 3 feet high helps with stability and access.
  • You’ll need to supply your own blocks, but we’ll install and level the shed as part of your free shed delivery.

Durable & Built to Last

Concrete Pad Foundation:
The Strongest Choice for Long-Term Use

Over time, your shed may settle and require re-leveling, which we offer for an additional fee. To ensure smooth shed delivery and proper site preparation, always check with your local municipality for zoning regulations or required permits. Many areas have setback requirements—rules that dictate how far your shed must be placed from property lines or structures. Planning ahead helps avoid delays and ensures your shed is placed legally and securely.

Frequently Asked Questions about Shed Delivery & Installation

Esh’s Utility Buildings have a streamlined delivery process that includes scheduling a convenient time for delivery, ensuring proper placement on your property, and assisting with any setup needed to help you start using your building immediately.

To prepare for shed delivery, you should ensure that the delivery area is clear of obstacles, such as trees, rocks, and debris. Measure the space to confirm there is enough room for the shed and access for the delivery truck. Level the ground if necessary and consider any required permits in your area.

Preparing your site for shed delivery involves clearing the area, leveling the ground, and ensuring there is suitable access for the delivery vehicle. You may also want to explore different shed foundation options, such as gravel, concrete blocks, or a concrete slab to provide stability.

There are several shed foundation options available, including concrete slabs, gravel pads, and treated wood skids. The best choice depends on the size of the shed, local climate conditions, and your budget. A solid foundation will ensure durability and stability for your outdoor storage solutions.

Many shed delivery services offer installation as an additional option. It’s advisable to check with your specific provider to see if they include installation in their shed delivery package or if it comes at an extra cost.

Shed delivery lead times vary up to a few weeks, but most deliveries can be completed within a few hours once the shed arrives at your site. If installation is included, it may take longer, depending on the complexity of the work.

To ensure proper site drainage for your shed, select a location that is not prone to flooding and ideally on higher ground. You can also prepare the site by grading the area to create a slight slope away from the shed. Additionally, you can incorporate gravel or drainage systems to channel water away from the foundation.
